GREAT NEWS!!! - On February 9th, 2011 the American Anthropological Association's Committee for Human Rights has passed a letter in support of opposing the criminalization of the Xukuru. The letter has been sent to the 5th Regional Tribunal in Recife that is currently reviewing the 2009 court decision finding Cacique Marcos Xukuru and 35 other Xukuru leaders guilty of inciting a riot after the unsuccessful assassination attempt on the life of Cacique Marcos Xukuru.
